Magnificent mountains & gorges of #Majella# - A professionally #guided walk# on 1 day - Abruzzo cuisine
Description
It is an easy 3-4 hour train journey or drive from Rome (or 1.5h from Pescara) to the Abruzzo region and the towns and villages of #Majella National Park#. Settle in to your accommodation and enjoy the local atmosphere.
Your first full day on this short break is designed to orientate you and to give you a good understanding of the area. You will have a professionally guided walk in the National Park to discover some of the topography and special natural history of the area, this may be as part of a small group or more private. In the evening perhaps venture out on your own to discover some of the tasty delicacies of Abruzzo mountain cuisine.
The second day you may follow one of the trails from our self-guided walking notes. We would highly recommend discovering the beech forests and limestone cliffs of the Orfento Gorge although you may also wish to climb higher on the mountains to discover the upland meadows or even the rocky tops.
All too soon this short break ends with a final morning walk, during the spring and summer the grassy meadows are full of flowers, butterflies and other insects. In the autumn the forests have their own magnificence and it is possible to go wolf howling in the evenings. Later return to the airport for your return flight home.
